The stem of higher plant generally shows the negative gravitropism in the vegetative growth. On the other hand in the reproductive growth, there are some plants, such as the peduncle of poppy and water hyacinth and the gynophore of peanut in which the downward growth shown toward gravity direction. The downward growth of such stems in the reproductive growth is discussed from a viewpoint of the gravitropic response.
